COUNCIL TASKS COMMONWEALTH LEADERS ON FUTURE OF YOUTHS

President/chairman, commonwealth youth council, ahmed adamu and malta prime minister, dr. joseph muscat

President and Chairperson of the Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC), Ahmed Adamu has met with the Prime Minister of Malta, Dr. Joseph Muscat, where he charged leaders in the commonwealth nations to take the future of young people seriously.
A statement issued by the council said the meeting took place at the Foreign and Commonwealth office in London and was attended by High Commissioners from Malta and UK, some members of the UK parliament, young entrepreneurs and youth advocates.
“The meeting addressed issues about the future of the Commonwealth and the role of young people in upholding the Commonwealth values,” it said.
The CYC chair while describing young people as pillars of the Commonwealth, called on them to be acquainted with the values and principles of the Commonwealth as enshrined in the its charter.
“The commonwealth has now become a global model for peace, unity and international development, and we the young people have to sustain this legacy in order to promote tolerance, respect and understanding among young people,” he said.
Malta will be the country to host the next Commonwealth Head of Government meeting, where the first CYC leadership transition will take place and new executives elected.
The Prime Minister assured his fullest support to the youth toward achieving a successful General Assembly in Malta 2015.
