GUBERNATORIAL ASPIRANT: MR OKON IYANAM

MR. OKON IYANAM, FIMN. 

Mr. Okon Iyanam is an 'indigene of Akwa Ibom state from oron LGA. He was born in 1965 and has within these few decades sojourn in Ikot Ekpene, Uyo, Obot idim ibesikpo, Etinan, Oyubia- Uruefon/Oruko, Asaba, Warri, Portharcourt, Benin, Ibadan, Jalingo, Yola, Sokoto and lagos- traversing, learning and also imparting to the socio-cultural, political cum economic experiences of these people.

Like Gov. Akpabio, Iyanam attended Federal Government College and University of Calabar with differences only location and course of study respectively. That is to say, where Gov. Akpabio attended FGC at Portharcourt, Iyanam attended his at Warri and whereas Gov. Akpabio read Law at UNICAL, Iyanam read Political Science, in which he garduated with a second class upper. He also possess an MBA (leadership), University of Liverpool.

AKWA IBOM CHILD RIGHTS LAW

The Akwa Ibom State Child Rights Law The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Godswill Akpabio, on 5th December, 2008 signed the child rights act into law to protect the growth of perceptual, emotional, intellectual, and behavioural capabilities and functioning during childhood of Akwa Ibom children under 16 years. The law protects the Akwa Ibom child from birth to adolescence and up to 16 years such that the child is afforded the necessary protection and assistance so that it can fully assume its responsibilities within the community.
