NANS NATIONAL PRESIDENT WRITES FAYEMI

Open Letter to Dr. Kayode Fayemi, outgoing Governor, Ekiti State
Greetings to your Excellency. I write to sympathize with you on your record-breaking electoral defeat on 21st June. I urge you to take the defeat as the wish of God and that of the good people of Ekiti State.
However, Dear Dr. Kayode Fayemi, it will be disservice to the student community I fail to put it to you that you did not represent us well despite being trained by our school of thought.
Your Excellency, your problem with the people of Ekiti started on the day you reneged on your promise to make tertiary education affordable to them.
Your Excellency, In an obvious move to cajole the people of Ekiti, Sir, just before 2011 general elections, you declared that school fee in the Ekiti state owned tertiary institutions must not exceed N50, 000. However, shortly after the elections, you reneged by tactically increasing the school fees of the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, EKSU and College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti.
Sadly, the blocking move made by the ever-no-nonsense students of EKSU led to your anti-democratic agents proscribing their union for almost 3 years. This act was perpetrated under the watchful eye of your Excellency, despite your self-acclaimed human rights background and democratic feats.
Your Excellency sir, let me state without any fear of intimidation that you acted wickedly by denying Ekiti Students bursary and scholarship awards for close to 3 years. Your heartless policy of no school fee, no examination in EKSU, my almamata, has caused many damages for the supposed future of tomorrow.
Mr. Governor, recall that I was once your staunch supporter? Recall that the last straw that broken our relationship was the fact that you detest criticism? Recall how you spent many millions of naira on operation bring down Yinka Gbadebo just because I kicked against the alleged killing of Ekiti people by your aides and political associates? Recall how you turned my lieutenants in Ekiti against me?
Your Excellency, i urge you to use the remaining three months of your administration to reconcile with those that you have offended. Dr. Fayemi, to err is human and to forgive is divine.
Consequently, I Yinka Gbadebo, declare that i whole-heartedly forgive you for what you did to me. I equally appeal to Ekiti Students to forgive you. Dr. Fayemi, for the fact that you could concede defeat to your opponent without being coaxed, not minding the decision of your party to go to tribunal to seek redress for an election shamefully lost, I declare without being immodest that you should GO and SIN no more.
Let me salute you for breaking a record as the first public official to concede defeat in the Nigeria's 4th republic. You have indeed proven that you were groomed and moulded in the constituency of democracy not minding the tyrannically manner you had ruled before June 21st.
God bless Kayode Fayemi!
God bless Ekiti State!!
God bless NANS!!!
'Yinka Gbadebo, Iseyin, Oyo State, Nigeria.

EFREN PENAFLORIDA - SOCIAL WORKER AND TEACHER

Efren’s Penaflorida – Social Worker and Teacher Efren PeƱaflorida, Jr. sports no cape. He has no superpowers. You would neither throw him a second glance nor even notice him in a big crowd. There is really nothing special about Efren except his unparalleled dedication to reforming kids in their poverty-stricken community in Cavite, Philippines.Efren PeƱaflorida, Jr.’s sanity was questioned when people first saw him going around the neighborhood pushing his improvised cart loaded with food, books, paper, pencils, and other things you would commonly see in a classroom. Why, Efren goes around the neighborhood pushing a mobile classroom to peddle the love for education. He left his well-paying job as a private school teacher to devote all of his time and effort to his Kariton Klasrum project while his neighbors mock him.To make matters worse, his parents and brother did not see the point in his earnestness to get out-of-school youths interested in going back to school. For a family s...
