RED ALERT: NORTHERN YOUTH GIVES NON-NORTHERNERS 2 WEEKS ULTIMATUM

Northern Youths Give Non-Northerners 2 Weeks Ultimatum To Leave

As Nigerians grapple with terrorism, insecurity and other vices that keep diving the country, the youths who are the major victims of the sins of their fathers, should be doing everything possible to unite the country but some misguided youths in the Northern part of the country, under the aegis of Arewa Youth Development Foundation, has called on all Non-Northerners living in those parts to leave within two weeks or face their wrath.
The ultimatum was contained in a statement read and jointly signed by the group’s National President, Aliyu Usman and Secretary, Comrade Alfred Solomon, during a courtesy call by the group to the new Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, in his palace.
According to the group, their call was necessary because they have lost confidence in the unity of the country and also alleged that:
For the past four years, a  policy of direct subjugation of the north and its people had been pursued by the Federal Government and its agencies, in collaboration with various  governments in the south.
The   alleged crackdown on Northerners in the name of Boko Haram, the recent arrest of all Imams of Juma’at Mosques in Abia State, the arrest of northern traders, the happenings at the  national confab,  among others issues, are regretable.
In the event that all the resolution failed, we call on all northerners to rise and support agitations for a peaceful dissolution of this union called Nigeria, for every region to go its own way.

MY REACTION:

For the pass few months, certain individuals especially those who are not comfortable with the development pace of Goodluck Jonathan's administration are hard-bent in making uncomplimentary remarks inciting young people especially those on social media against government and government officials. In as far as they are at will to express their opinion on issues of national concern, but there must be restraint on their statements especially when such can spark a violent reaction.

It is on this note that government should ensure that people who are in the venture of making inciting comments and statements are henceforth put under watch by security operatives. Government must as a matter of priority tame these sets of people and groups so as not to create unnecessary hitches in the polity. We must not condone any act that is capable of truncating our nascent democracy who many risk their life for it.

For the youth groups that gave an ultimatum for all Northerners to return home, I want to submit that you have taken the yoke too far. Nigeria do not need this as we are not ready for any other civil war. While the country is going through moment of security challenges, it is expected of all patriotic citizens to rise up to the occasion by living up to their responsibilities to expose all act that is capable of breaching the peace we have be experiencing before now. We must judge our conscience by condemning what is evil and encourage peacful co-existence.

Lets stop instigating and drumming drums for war for we may not survive to tell the story. WE NEED PEACE IN NIGERIA. AND NOTHING ELSE BUT ABSOLUTE PEACE.

Comments

  1. Why does the Unguided youths of the Northern Region enjoy violent act. Nigeria must be peaceful and be better. This is not negotiable, but must be.
