MR. UDOM EMMANUEL

BIRTH AND EDUCATION:

Born on July 11, 1966 in Awa-Iman, ONNA Local Government Area, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel studied Accounting at the University of Lagos and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree with Second Class Honour, Upper Division in 1988. He moved on to undertake the Master of Science Degree in Corporate Governance at Leeds Metropolitan University, United Kingdom.

Before now, he had gone through Primary and Secondary Schools and further prepared himself for undergraduate studies at the School of Arts and Science, Uyo, where he passed ‘A’ Level in 1981.

COURSES AND TRAINING:

Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel has not left any stone unturned in digging deep and climbing high in his chosen profession. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA); Fellow of the Institute of Financial Management, since 2005 and, an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (ACIT).

Udom Emmanuel has also undertaken several Off-shore Professional Courses and Executive Management Programmes at enviable Business Institutions across the world. He was at the prestigious London Business School, for a programme in Advanced Leadership Management, at Insead, France, he took up Advanced Management Programme (AMP); at Harvard Business School, a frontline Business institution in the United State of America, he studied Negotiation and Competitive Decision-making, and at Colombia Business School in USA, he had training in Executive Leadership.

To further establish him in Banking and Business, he studied Enterprise Risk Management & Base 11 at Dun & Bradstreet: Strategic Thinking & Management for Competitive Advantage at the Wharton business School, USA: and at different times, undertook courses in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as well as Risk Management: Asset and Liability Management at Euromoney, London.

APPOINTMENTS, POSTINGS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

With a wide range of academic and professional training to his credit, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has served and gained experience and exposure in the Banking and Business sector of the Nigerian economy. He worked in Pricewater House from 1988 to 1994.  In 1093, he was appointed Audit Manager – Financial Services, of the Company. His service in the Bank exposed him to: Led Audit – Financial Services: Corporate Biz Analysis & Advisory: Corporate Biz Development as well as Corporate Tax Consultancy and Tax Planning & Advisory Services.

Diamond Bank Limited saw the promise in Udom Emmanuel and took him over, and appointed him as the Head, Special Projects Department, which made him responsible for Multilateral Agency Projects, including IDF and IBRD. He shouldered this responsibility between 1994 – 1995.

Still progressing steadily in the Banking Industry, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel got penciled down by Zenith Bank PLC for a Board appointment. In 2006, he was appointed Executive Director of Zenith Bank Plc, a position he occupied till date. His other Board appointments includes: Non-Executive Director, Africa Finance Corporate (AFC), 2010 to date and Director, Nigerian Inter-Banks Settlement system (NIBBs), 2009-2011. His brilliance and excellent service delivery stood Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel in a vantage position for his additional appointment as Non-Executive Director of Zenith Bank in foreign countries like, Zenith Bank UK, Zenith Bank Gambia and Zenith Bank Sierra Leone. He further served in the same position for Zenith Insurance, Zenith Pension and Custodian, Zenith Securities, Zenith Trustees & Zenith Registrars.

Mr. Udom Emmanuel’s additional brief included Corporate Strategy and Planning, International Investors Relations, Oil and Gas Sector, Infrastructure and Power Sector, Multinational, Conglomerates & Private Banking (MCP) as well as Telecommunications Sector.

He also served in the following Committees; Executive Management Committee, Senior Management Committee, Credit Committee, Assets and Liabilities Committee, Staff Committee, Exceptions Committee, Audit & Risk Management Committee as well as Nomination and Governance Committee.

This man of destiny, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has for 17 years been actively involved in diverse banking responsibilities and key decision making processes. He was appointed to his present position as the Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government on July 31, 2013. Humble, outgoing, Charismatic and God fearing, Mr. Udom Emmanuel is married with children.
