BISHOP (PROF) SAMUEL FRIDAY AKPAN'S BRIEF PROFILE

His Lordship Bishop (Prof.) Samuel Friday Akpan is a perfect example of a distinct Technocrat, Educationist, Administrator, Phylanthropist, an astute Politician, an Ambassador of Peace and above all a devoted Christian. A man of many parts who dares where others dread.

Born on the 20th day of June 1957 in Ikot Ibekwe, Ukanafun, he is a native of Abak Ishiet, Onna Local 
Government, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. He started his educational career at Ishiet U.A.C.C School, Ikot Akpan Ishiet, Onna, Akwa Ibom State and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (F.S.L.C) in 1970. He proceeded to Secondary Commercial School, Ibekwe, Ikot Abasi L.G.A in Akwa Ibom State for his Secondary Education and made his West African School Certificate (W.A.S.C) Ordinary level in 1974. Still obsessed with educational pursuit, Bishop Samuel Akpan in 1977 passed the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) Stage III (Advanced Public Administration) and British Society of Commerce Stage III- English respectively. In 1983, He passed part 1 Examination of the Institute of Bankers and Advanced Certificate in shipping, Central London Collage, London, United Kingdom.

In 2002 and 2003, He bagged a PGD in Public Finance & Economics and another (PGD) in Transport, Maritime, Shipping and Administrative Management respectively from the Royal Society of Academy for Arts & Commerce to his profile. In 2004, He graduated with (B.Sc.) Honors from the prestigious University of Calabar in Environmental Protection & Resources Management, and also qualified from the Chartered Institutes of Commerce, Nigeria. Same year, an (MBA) from the United Nations University in Port Administrations and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in International Business, (Import/ Export) from the same University in 2008 and completed another post graduate Diploma (PGD) in peace & Conflict Studies, University of Uyo in 2009.

As an educationist, he has returned to the University of Calabar, for another Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph.D) in Education (Human Growth and Development). He has 5- Awarded Doctor of Philosophy Degrees (Ph.D) to his credit from credible International Universities among which are: University of Berkley, Michigan - USA, All Saint University of America, NY, USA, European-American University, Commonwealth of Dominica, etc. He is a "FELLOW'' of 18 notable and internationally accredited Professional bodies i.e. Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Shipping, Institute of Commerce of Nigeria, Institute of Company & Commercial Accountant of Nigeria, Institute of Chartered Trustees of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Local Government & Public Administration of Nigeria, Certified Institute of Public Administrators, Ghana, National Institute for Education & Research, New Delhi, India among others.

He is Chairman, Governing Council of Uyo Business School (Post Graduates School). A member of the Governing Council, African International Programme, American Liberty University (ALU). In recognition of these, he was appointed Professor of Business Management by the University of Berkley, Michigan, USA in 2011.

Bishop Samuel Akpan started his rising working career in Mercantile Bank of Nigeria Ltd, and left as a Supervisor in 1981. He was the Chairman, Revenue Mobilization Committee, Onna L.G.A, and presently Chairman/Chief Executive Qua Project & Resources Ltd, Third Investment Nig. Ltd and 11 other registered and operating companies in Nigeria. He is the President, Akwa Ibom State Palm Produce and Marketing Co-operatives and 5 – other Co-operative and Multipurpose Associations.

As a Philanthropist and a Missionary, he has so far 61National and International Awards to his credit among which includes Ambassador for peace, Inter-religious and International Federation for World Peace, Unites Nations. A Patron of several reputable Organisations. As the ''Asiwaju of laje Land'', Ondo West, Ondo State, Obong Emem, Awa Clan, Obong Iberedi, Eket Traditional Council, he holds 13-
other traditional titles in his kitty.

He was ordained Bishop, in 2009 and is The Supervising Bishop of Nigeria and the Chairman of Governing Board of all Priests World Wide in Brotherhood of the Cross & Star and the Pioneer Board Chairman, Star Cross Televisions.

He is married with Children. He loves, Sports, traveling, Teaching and Humanitarian Works
