- Radar Newspapers

One of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) 2015 governorship aspirants in Akwa Ibom State from Eket senatorial district, Dr. Samuel Udonsak has formally written to the people of Eket Nation on his desire to run for the position.

This was contained in his goodwill message addressed to the National President of Eket Development Congress, USA Inc., Houston, TX77254, Obong Chris Oduok at its 7th Annual National Convention held May 23 – 25, 2014.

The statement reads; “I bring you warm greetings from home. Let me say that my wife and children are particularly impressed by your determination to continually foster the Ekid primordial relationships, even in the Diaspora. They send their hearty felicitations.

“I must congratulate you very sincerely, on this occasion of your 7th Annual National Convention, May 23 – 25, 2014. It is worthy of note, that the theme of this year’s Convention – Empowering our next Generation through Education and Community Development – and particularly your Mission Statement of strengthening our relationships through shared responsibility in Community Development, leaves no one in doubt, that even outside your home State, you are all committed to ensuring that, our next generation comes out better than the present. I commend your efforts.

“It is pertinent to emphasize, that for the next generation of Eket People, empowered as it were, to live effectively and in harmony with other Sections or Ethnic Nationalities in the State, these Sections have to be simultaneously empowered. This brings into focus the 2015 Governorship Election in Akwa Ibom State. It is a critical election that has to produce, the man or woman, who has the foresight, the focus, the energy, and the initiative, the broad awareness of the problems of the people, the empathy and the determination to sustain and surpass the gains of the incumbent State Administration. May I inform you with all modesty, that I consider myself competent and well-endowed for the task of building a greater Akwa Ibom State.

“It is on this conviction that I shall contest and win the election and become the next Governor of Akwa Ibom State, come 2015. I shall need your support during the electioneering campaigns that are imminent, and during the period of my Governance. I trust that together, we can reach the Akwa Ibom of our dream.

“Once again, let me congratulate you and your team, on the successful hosting of this year’s National Convention and wish you greater successes in future. God bless you all.”

EFREN PENAFLORIDA - SOCIAL WORKER AND TEACHER

Efren’s Penaflorida – Social Worker and Teacher Efren Peñaflorida, Jr. sports no cape. He has no superpowers. You would neither throw him a second glance nor even notice him in a big crowd. There is really nothing special about Efren except his unparalleled dedication to reforming kids in their poverty-stricken community in Cavite, Philippines.Efren Peñaflorida, Jr.’s sanity was questioned when people first saw him going around the neighborhood pushing his improvised cart loaded with food, books, paper, pencils, and other things you would commonly see in a classroom. Why, Efren goes around the neighborhood pushing a mobile classroom to peddle the love for education. He left his well-paying job as a private school teacher to devote all of his time and effort to his Kariton Klasrum project while his neighbors mock him.To make matters worse, his parents and brother did not see the point in his earnestness to get out-of-school youths interested in going back to school. For a family s...
