In furtherance of our determination to sustain, promote and develop leadership potential among young people in Nigeria, GAFC has taken a bold step to develop the leadership potential embedded in our youth as future leaders who will sustain the legacy of the present crop of leaders as exemplified by His Excellency, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, CON.

Godswill Akpabio Fan Club is a social network of friends, supporters, and fans of Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, the executive governor of Akwa Ibom State. It is also a national leadership mentoring platform and will annually take critical component of leadership development and incorporate it into a theme from which papers will be presented and session discussion originated.

GOALS
The goals of the Leadership Summit are as follows:
1. To inspire young people to seek leadership responsibilities as part of their contribution toward nation building.
2. To increase awareness on challenges confronting leadership development in the country.
3. To gather upcoming leaders to meet with those holding leadership position in the country.
4. To create a platform for leadership mentoring program.
5. To reawaken the consciousness of young people to embrace transformational leadership for accelerated development.
6. To encourage upcoming leaders to imbibe the ethos of good governance and a passion to improve society positively.

THEME/FOCUS
The theme of this year edition which is the first in the series is GODSWILL AKPABIO: A MODEL OF TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP IN NIGERIA. The theme is chosen to trigger discussion on Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, CON as a model of leadership in the country. His Excellency, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio has brought transformational leadership to bear in Akwa Ibom State and beyond in his capacity as Executive Governor and Chairman, PDP Governors Forum in Nigeria. This transformational leadership is worth celebrating and maintaining. Today, his personality, pedigree and political instinct have earned him both national and global credentials, virtually printing his name in gold as a leader who has uncommonly transformed his society for good. Through his leadership attributes, he has been able to raise the bar of democratic governance in Nigeria and improve the self-worth of an average Akwa Ibom person to stand shoulder to shoulder among equals from other climes. As fans of the governor, we have purported to get the transformational traits of Chief Akpabio to permeate the nook and crannies of our society through periodic leadership training where our youth will be indoctrinated on the principles of transformational leadership. It is our humble belief that by so doing, we shall succeeded in mentoring future political leaders as well as provide a paradigm for transformational leadership basking on Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio.

AKWA IBOM CHILD RIGHTS LAW

The Akwa Ibom State Child Rights Law The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Godswill Akpabio, on 5th December, 2008 signed the child rights act into law to protect the growth of perceptual, emotional, intellectual, and behavioural capabilities and functioning during childhood of Akwa Ibom children under 16 years.
