THE HARD TRUTH: WHO IS AFRAID OF THE MILITARY?

WHO IS AFRAID OF THE MILITARY?

By Ubong David

I have listened to many arguments whether the military should be deployed to election centers or not. Why some are in support, others have opposed it strongly. There is a report on NTA news that there was a brawl at the lower chamber of the National Assembly yesterday on the same issue. This is very funny as our lawmakers and some Nigerians have leave the real issues to debate on things that do not add up at all.

The deployment of troops to election center is in order and is not a debatable issue at all. Why are the opposition afraid of the same military that was used in Edo, Anambra, Ekiti, Osun which the opposition won three of the four elections? As far as I am concern, with the present of the military and SSS, those thugs recruited to hijack election materials and run away to an unknown destination will be curb accordingly. Police and Para-military officers alone cannot do it as sometimes they easily compromised and help the thugs in their mission. With the military, such irresponsible actions will be curtailed. I trust the military as their rifle is always alive in such assignment. What I expect from our people is for them to warn young people not to be involved in running away with election materials as they will meet their waterloo.

I therefore support the use of military 100%. It works in Edo, Anambra, Ekiti and Osun and no thuggery was reported. Opposition won three of that election. The same should be deployed in the coming election as the tension is too high and some people may want to take advantage of it.

Again, the Corps member and other electoral officers need serious security to do their work to avoid a repeat of 2011.

AKWA IBOM CHILD RIGHTS LAW

The Akwa Ibom State Child Rights Law The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Godswill Akpabio, on 5th December, 2008 signed the child rights act into law to protect the growth of perceptual, emotional, intellectual, and behavioural capabilities and functioning during childhood of Akwa Ibom children under 16 years. EFREN PENAFLORIDA - SOCIAL WORKER AND TEACHER

Efren’s Penaflorida – Social Worker and Teacher Efren PeƱaflorida, Jr. sports no cape. He has no superpowers. You would neither throw him a second glance nor even notice him in a big crowd. There is really nothing special about Efren except his unparalleled dedication to reforming kids in their poverty-stricken community in Cavite, Philippines.Efren PeƱaflorida, Jr.’s sanity was questioned when people first saw him going around the neighborhood pushing his improvised cart loaded with food, books, paper, pencils, and other things you would commonly see in a classroom. Why, Efren goes around the neighborhood pushing a mobile classroom to peddle the love for education. He left his well-paying job as a private school teacher to devote all of his time and effort to his Kariton Klasrum project while his neighbors mock him.To make matters worse, his parents and brother did not see the point in his earnestness to get out-of-school youths interested in going back to school. For a family s...
