BENUE PLEDGES TO ENCOURAGE CHRISTIAN PILGRIMAGE

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has said the state would encourage indigenes to perform Christian pilgrimage and also support the Nigerian Christian Pilgrimage Commission to discharge its mandate.
He spoke when a delegation from the commission paid him a courtesy call at the Benue Peoples House.
Executive Secretary of the commission, John Kennedy-Opara led the delegation.
The Governor who said Christian pilgrimage uplifts the spirit urged every Christian to aspire to perform the exercise adding that the state would encourage its indigenes to participate and also support the commission to discharge its mandate.
"When people are blessed spiritually, it manifests in the physical," he stated.
"On a personal note I appreciate my worthy brother who kept faith with me in my trying times. Your encouragement and prayers have helped me to be where I am today."
Governor Ortom commended the management of the commission for the reforms and creativity they have brought to bear on the organization.
The Executive Secretary, Kennedy-Opara, disclosed that he had come to sensitize the people of the state about different categories of pilgrimage and the timetable.
He said skills acquisition has been incorporated into youth pilgrimage while strategies have been evolved to lessen government sponsorship burden by encouraging individuals and organizations to also shoulder the responsibility.
According to him Governor Ortom was a miracle whose emergence was divine.
