BUKOLA SARAKI: BEWARE OF THE ENEMIES WITHIN

For sometimes now I have refused to comment on political issues in the country because of the emotion that is attached to it by commentators. The political development of the last few weeks has compel me to air out my personal view which I deem it necessary as a bona fide citizen of Nigeria.

Earnestly speaking, I am not impressed at all with the way Nigeria is going based on numerous accusations and counter-accusations going on in the country. Since the inauguration of the new administration of President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29, the country has been divided on political lines and every person that do not belong to the ruling class or the ''inner circle'' of the new administration is seen as an enemy. That's not the Nigeria of our dreams that some patriots put their life on the line to ensure that democracy is entrenched in our country.

Since the emergence of Dr. Bukola Saraki as Senate President against the wish or decision of his party, he has been penciled down for all manners of attack just to remove him from the exalted position which was given to him by majority of the Senators at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly. There are series of attack or witch-hunting as the case may be on his person, the Deputy Senate President and any other person(s) that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) identified as those who aided Bukola Saraki to emerged as Senate President. The invitation of Sen. Ike Ekweremadu by the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, the media onslaught by Sahara Reporters, Premium Times and all their branches and agents on social media, and the recent invitation of the wife of Senate President by EFCC are all pointer to the fact that the power that be want to remove Bukola Saraki by whatever means. This is very unfortunate in a democratic setting.

I have followed the American democracy which Nigeria is being touted to have followed but I haven't seen such a witch-hunting as is the case in our polity. Many of us are aware of the opposition that Speaker of the US House of Representatives, John Boehner, a Republican has been wielded against President Obama policies especially Obamacare but that didn't make him a perceived enemy of the Presidency and he was not invited by FBI or the Police for frivolous allegation. I think many of us are aware that Speaker John Boehner is from the Republican, an opposition party while Barack Obama is from the Democrat, the ruling party yet they put America first in their agenda and do not allow their political party affairs to supercede the main issue of governance which they were elected. It is very sad that for good two months running, the issue of governance which our political leaders promised Nigerians has been abandoned while supremacy of political camp is top on the agenda of national issue. This is very unfortunate.

The truth of the matter is that there are certain folks in APC within the Presidency, party leadership and among the Senators within APC that want to remove Bukola Saraki by hooks or crooks hence the numerous and fictitious allegations brought against him and anything that has any link to him. My observation is that while the National Assembly is about to resume next week if they don't postpone it again, the Senate President should know that the war on him and all his affiliates and loyalists are sponsored by his party APC and they have vowed to removed him by all way possible either democratically or otherwise. Substitution can come in different ways but you need to be extra careful because the enemies that is hunting for your exit is within.

AKWA IBOM CHILD RIGHTS LAW

The Akwa Ibom State Child Rights Law The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Godswill Akpabio, on 5th December, 2008 signed the child rights act into law to protect the growth of perceptual, emotional, intellectual, and behavioural capabilities and functioning during childhood of Akwa Ibom children under 16 years. The law protects the Akwa Ibom child from birth to adolescence and up to 16 years such that the child is afforded the necessary protection and assistance so that it can fully assume its responsibilities within the community. Child development becomes notable from the emergence of speech at one to two years of age. 2 to 7 years is early childhood where the child uses symbolic thought and language to manipulate their environment. 7 to 12 is late childhood and marks the beginnings of logic, involving the classification of ideas and an understanding of time and number. 12 up forms development of empathy, the ability to appreciate the feelings and perspectives of others.
