EKET SENATORIAL DISTRICT YOUTH COALITION (ESDYC) FAULTED CIAPS REPORT ON AKWA IBOM STATE AND RATED UDOM EMMANUEL ADMINISTRATION HIGH
The attention of Eket Senatorial District Youth Coalition (ESDYC), an umbrella youth voice in Eket Senaorial District of Akwa Ibom State has been drawn to a fictitious and biased report by a Lagos-based group, Center for International Advanced and Professional Studies (CIAPS) rating His Excellency, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, the governor of Akwa Ibom State as one of the less performing governor in Nigeria. In as far as we may not interfere with the activities of CIAPS but we view their reports as a direct insult on the sensibility of Eket Senatorial District and indeed the generality of Akwa Ibom people.
It is laughable that CIAPS Governor Performance Index (CGPI) Report criteria is premised on payment of salaries, new projects, education, security and leadership by example which Udom Emmanuel emerged top on the list by every available indices and comparative analysis. It is ridiculous and a mockery of the century for an organization established to give fair report on state governors in Nigeria so as to improve on their performance and also encourage healthy competition among chief executives of state has stoop so low and involved themselves in dirty politics to rate a low performing state rattled with high security threat ahead of a peaceful and high performance state like Akwa Ibom. We want to bring to the notice of CIAPS Coordinator, Mr. Olumuyiwa Ayoola and his paid group that the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Deacon Udom Emmanuel since assumption of office has performed creditably to the admiration of all good people of Akwa Ibom State and beyond.
For the avoidance of doubt, he has paid staff salaries as and when due, embark on new projects in the state that will create jobs for the teeming youths of Akwa Ibom State. He is seriously committed to the development of Ibaka Deep Sea Project, ground breaking for new companies in the state, awarding contract for the construction of roads across the entire state, reviving of Peacock Paints in Etinan, payment of arrears pension and gratuities to teachers and local government staffs, rehabilitation of St. Luke Hospital in Anua, sustainance of the Free Education policy of the immediate past administration and other laudable projects and programmes too numerous to contain here.
In terms of security, Akwa Ibom State as at today is one of the most secured state in Nigeria that any sensible person can think of which therefore attract investors to the state. On leadership by example, Udom Emmanuel has set the pace for others to follow and place people ahead of any other interest. The ''Dakkada'' philosophy of Udom Emmanuel administration has inspired the people of Akwa Ibom State with children inclusive to arise to greatness and take their rightful place in the country as a people specially blessed by God and the result is overwhelming. We are still pondering on what indices that CIAPS was using to assess Akwa Ibom State and rated it as one of the five less performing states in Nigeria.
It is therefore not out of place to conclude that the said report was aimed to tarnish the image of Governor Udom Emmanuel, denigrate his administration and bring it to public ridicule especially the camp of opposition in the state. We want to sound a strong warning to Mr. Olumuyiwa Ayoola led CIAPS group that our organization will continue to counter any attempt by paid groups or individuals to bring down the government of Udom Emmanuel on whatever guises. The overwhelming support that Udom Emmanuel has received from Akwa Ibom people before, during and after the election should send a wrong signal to Mr. Ayoola and his group that Akwa Ibom State is not a safe haven for him.
We therefore call on Akwa Ibom people and the general public to discountenance such fictitious reports in its entirety and throw it to the dust bin of history as it lacks every standardization with international best practices. We urge the people of Eket Senatorial District and indeed the entire Akwa Ibom people to continue to give their unflinching support to the administration of Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel so as to deliver on his campaign promises which is already yielding positive results.
