EKET SENSITIZATION TOUR BY MINISTRY OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND CHIEFTAINCY AFFAIRS

It was another moment of interaction as stakeholders in Eket Local Government Area came out enmasse to witness the Sensitization Tour of Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. The meeting which was scheduled at the the Local Government Council Hall have in attendance Traditional Rulers Council, Women and Youth Leaders.

The meeting commenced with a briefing on the programes and policies of His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel by the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rt. Hon. Victor Antai. He outlined some of the major programs of the present administration in the state to include industrialization, youth and women empowerment and flagging-off of road construction projects across the state. He specifically mentioned the siting of Petrochemical Company and two Refineries in Eket land and therefore urge the people of Eket to give their unflinching support to Udom Emmanuel administration as it will bring smile to the faces of the people and create jobs to the teeming youths. Rt. Hon. Victor Antai pleaded with the elders of Eket to make peace among themselves and show the young ones direction so as to make the land rich for development to thrive. He requested the people of Eket Local Government to make available land for mechanized farming as the administration is committed to bring succour to the people by improving their life and welfare.

Earlier, the Transition Committee Chairman of Eket Local Government Area, Hon. Frank Archibong welcome the Honourable Commissioner and his entourage to Eket and pledged the support of Eket people to Udom Emmanuel administration. Others who speak at the meeting were the Clan Head of Idua, Chief E. C. D. Abia who was happy with the election of Udom Emmanuel as the governor of Akwa Ibom State based on his antecedent as a financial expert and former Executive Director of a fast growing bank in Nigeria. The wife of the former Paramount Ruler, Mrs Timtiniko Enodien speak on behalf of the women to continue to support the administration of Udom Gabriel Emmanuel.

The duo of Mr. Godwin Nduaesa, Chairman of National Youth Council in Eket and Chief Francis Eno, JP the Obong Mkparawa 1 of Ekid Nation all pledged that the youth of Eket LGA will continue to give their support to the administration of Udom Emmanuel and that they will not be distracted by anybody. They commend the governor on his development strides within the five months in office and urge him to fulfill all his campaign promises so as to make Eket youth to smile like it happened in Uyo and Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District during the past administration of Obong Victor Attah and Sen. Godswill Obot Akpabio respectively.

The Akwa Ibom State Child Rights Law The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Godswill Akpabio, on 5th December, 2008 signed the child rights act into law to protect the growth of perceptual, emotional, intellectual, and behavioural capabilities and functioning during childhood of Akwa Ibom children under 16 years.
