DO WE HAVE A DPR UNIT OR A PETROLEUM TASK FORCE IN AKWA IBOM ?
By Akan Emah
I have always noticed that even when fuel is available nationwide and other states are selling at the approved prices, we buy more than the approved prices in Akwa Ibom.
I have also noticed that while the DPR unit go on inspections from time to time, sealing off filling stations and sanctioning others in other states for either selling above the pump price or other misbehavior, nothing of such is ever heard in Akwa Ibom.

Now, with the sabotage by the cabal and government prompt reaction in
ensuring fuel is made available to the people, we have heard in the news
how many erring major and independent marketers have been dealt with.
So, what is happening in Akwa Ibom State ? Are the DPR unit not aware of
the high prices inflicted upon the masses by petroleum dealers ?
On Friday last week, fuel was sold for 87 Naira by the major marketers and 120 Naira by the Independent marketers in Calabar. I am even believing by today, Independent Marketers should be selling for either 100 Naira or less. But here in Akwa Ibom, I bought fuel today for 160 Naira early in the morning though someone has confirmed he bought for 150 Naira this afternoon.
What is really happening in Akwa Ibom ? Are our marketers not buying from the same tank farms ? Why is government not always sensitive to the issue of fuel ? Do we have a DPR unit in this state ? The task force on petroleum , what are they doing ?
Why have these men in position of authority , saddled with responsibilities of ensuring that the generality of the people have petroleum products in approved prices become so complacent and selfish ?
Akwa Ibom State deserves a better treatment from these men. God bless us
