"SCORECARD AT SIX MONTHS: NOTHING OUTSTANDING!
After six months in office, Nigerians have reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari achievements in office as a disaster and nothing to write home about. While some are of the opinion that six months is too short to assess an administration of four years, others are of the opinion that at least some of his campaign promises should have been fulfilled within the six months but instead the country is facing one of the most challenging moment since the return of democracy in Nigeria. Fuel is on the increase, power is reducing on daily basis, Boko Haram attack is at its peak, the cost of living is high and the economy is dwindling while Mr. President is flying out to foreign countries abandoning his core responsibilities of administering governance which he promised Nigerians. Below are some of the reactions that followed a copied post by Victoria Ibezim-Ohiare from Dapo Rotifa:
It's about SIX MONTHS of Buhari presidency. Okay, it's still early but I can categorically say THERE HAS BEEN NOTHING OUTSTANDING AT ALL. Well, maybe the goodwill of Nigerians. That's still outstanding for this 'unusual' president. But in terms of performance, policies, programs, appointments, vision and what have you, I AM NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL! That's just me.....you don't have to draw your 'revolver'. And you don't have to believe I still support him. Even his well touted mantra of "I will fight corruption has been all fluky. But I will choose to remain hopeful that he can pull us out of the doldrums before the depletion of his only 'asset' he brought to his job: the goodwill of Nigerians.
And on his crisscrossing the globe, I can recall Obasanjo did the same thing in his first term of democratic presidency all in the name of repositioning the country to make it investor-friendly. He got NOTHING out of it. Presidents of serious nations sparingly travel out.....only on very important bilateral and multilateral engagements. The work is at home!" - Dapo Rotifa.
Emmanuel Acha "He has achieved so many good things, at least the most frequent traveling president of the year award. Ajala traveler. He needs deliverance NOT even help"
Benedict Francis Okafor Yet, Buhari is busy blaming Jonathan or travelling round the country. These are all symptoms of a person who is living in denial and has chosen to remain in realitical oblivion.
Osahon Olusegun Vick, this man can only succeed if you and I believe its possible. Like American they stand behind their President and work together and not sit "hands akimbo' and watch him fail so you say ' I talk am say he go fail" . was Rome or America build in day, no of course,,,,,its time we all join hands and join in the building of Nigeria......Do you expect the man to fix the electricity, roads, food and petrol logjams in SIX months? Do you expect him to arrest all the looters in one day? a beg make una spare this man some time.
Tunde Adebo Fafiyebi The unfortunate part is that in governance, once you see the beginning, it usually tells you how the entire journey will shape out....
Udo Okugbe Thanks Yemi Odunaike. Probably the worst aspect of this government. Lies upon lies.
Osinowo Olalekan Fatai What have you contributed in the 6 months as citizen who wants his/her nation success too?
Mark Kalu Indeed there must be evidences of work-in-progress......this is the expection of the electorates from both sides of the divide. I'm so hopeful but believe me brother a lot of hopes are not hopeful. God bless PMB
Dm Ovada For bringing down the number of ministries, I am Impressed. For shooting down Executive Directorate at the NNPC, I am Impressed. For scaling down from 8 to 4 number of Managing Directorate at the NNPC, i am Impressed. For practically having a Single Treasury Account for the country's revenue, I am Impressed. For preempting crisis over unpaid salaries in state via bailout, I am Impressed.
I AM VERY IMPRESSED WITH ALL THESE MEASURES AIMED AT BLOCKING THE LEAKAGES.
Kunle Alaba It took me only a few lines into the post to realize it wasn't written by you. The further I read, the more confused I get. I see phrases like..."fighting corruption, OK it is still early, goodwill of Nigerians, I choose to remain hopeful"(that was the threshold for me!)etc. there and then I knew something was definitely missing from the post(doesn't sound Victoriaish, I'm honestly being sincere here), bwala! I saw the credit at the end. By the way, I agree with the post 100%. Very reasonable criticism.
I have emphasized time without numbers that, this administration is yet to start work and that what Nigerians enjoyed in the first few months was a product of their own enthusiasm and their desire for a change from the rot and quagmire that held us bound for years (you can call it "goodwill"). The work of building will now start in earnest. Building always requires all hands on deck, especially the foundation. I can bet you, it will not look beautiful until the building is all done, but like the writer, we want to see evidences of work in progress. Again. I'm reiterating that work hasn't started. I'm sincerely not holding brief for this administration, but I always have that deep down intuition that, things will eventually work out.
Osilama Okuofu Left to himself, this President would be a disaster! Administrative competence is not genetic to him. I am glad though that in Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, he has found a 'new' Tunde Idiagbon! He seems to like Tundes! With the 'handing over' of his government to Fashola by elevating him to 'Prime Ministership', I see hope that some good things will be achieved. Nigerians should stop worrying their heads about his globetrotting....that work to be done at home is being looked into by the boy at home, Raji! PMB came to enjoy what he did not enjoy during his first time out....Nigerians should come to that realisation & let Baba Malu be! I have & not breaking any sweat about him. Na Fashola me I go hold responsible.....electorial mandate or not! He is the defacto President of Nigeria!
The-Thirtieth Rdh Victoria, Ma'am, I support this 100%. Great analysis. Even as an aggressive supporter of PMB during the elections, I am fatally disappointed. This government lacks economic direction and also the basic macroeconomics understanding that you don't run bullshit, unsustainable populist programs for 180 million when you are broke. I cannot support clear, first class, gyrational, naples-lazzaronistic, philistinic and caricaturic government. Everyone is getting tired. To imagine these guys are running Nigeria at a time the country is dishearteningly sick defeats me.
Peter Chime Inyamah ...NOTHING OUTSTANDING ke? So someone who has toured 10 countries in less than six months has not made a remarkable achievement? Make APC e-warlords hear am from your mouth
