EKET SENATORIAL DISTRICT YOUTH VOWS TO DEFEND UDOM'S MANDATE

The youth of Eket Senatorial District under the aegis of Eket Senatorial District Youth Forum today in Uyo made a vow to defend the mandate that Akwa Ibom people freely given to Udom Emmanuel. The youth numbering over 3000 gathered at Ewet Housing Estate in Uyo to made their position known. The convener of the meeting who is also the Vice Chairman of PDP in Eket Senatorial District, Mr. Kennedy Akwaowo stated that the mandate given to Udom Emmanuel cannot be taken by anybody. He emphasized strongly that the youth of Eket Senatorial District will stand with Udom Emmanuel to lead Akwa Ibom State for eight years as was the case with other senatorial district.

The Chairman Transition Committee of Mkpat Enin, Mr Ephraim Akpan say that Udom Emmanuel has been elected as the governor of Akwa Ibom State and that nothing anyone can do to change the collective decision of Akwa Ibom people. He call on the youth of Eket Senatorial District to unite and defend their mandate.

Also speaking was the Chairman Transition Committee of Eket local government, Hon Frank Archibong who made a case that Eket Senatorial District is the revenue base of Akwa Ibom State and as such deserves to lead the state under the leadership of Udom Emmanuel. Hon Frank was emphatical that the mandate that Akwa Ibom people gave to Udom Emmanuel is sacrosanct and that the youth of Eket Senatorial District will arise to defend their son anytime any day. He therefore call on the youth of the district to speak in one voice and should not allow anyone to trample on their right.

Speaking in solidarity with the mandate of Eket Senatorial District, the Chairman Transition Committee of Ikono local government area say that he was part of those that supported Obong Victor Bassey Udo-Adiaha Attah​  for Uyo Senatorial District and he lead for eight years. He join others to support Chief Godswill Akpabio from Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District and he lead for eight years. He posits that he will stand with Udom Emmanuel of Eket Senatorial District for equity, justice and fairness and therefore pledge the support of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District to Udom Emmanuel's Divine Mandate Project.

The Commissioner for Works in Akwa Ibom State, Mr Ephraim Inyang​ made two strong position that Eket Senatorial District is the largest senatorial district in Akwa Ibom State and that it produces 92 percent resources that is used to developed the state and call on the youth of the district to rise up and defend their mandate as Udom Emmanuel has good plan for the youth. According to Ephraim Inyang, "We stand we Uyo Senatorial District and Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District. It is morally right and justify for Eket Senatorial District to have their eight years after then we can re-negotiate. It is not wrong for Eket Senatorial District to start the next turn.I stand with the youth. We will assemble in Eket Stadium by upper week to make our position known to Nigerians that Eket Senatorial District will never take the back seat. Nobody will take Eket Senatorial District for granted."

Others who speak at the gathering include the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rt. Hon. Victor Antai, the Managing Director of Hensek Construction Company Ltd, Mr Uwem Okoko. The gathering was attended by politicians and youth leaders across the twelve local government in the senatorial district. The Communique will be published on both national dailies and local tabloids to send a strong signal to the world that the youth of Eket Senatorial District are not asleep and will defend their mandate even if there is a re-run election in the state.
