...Commends Enobong Uwah, Etido Inyang
Two Commissioners earned the plaudits as Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel on thursday, January 21, 2015 inspected the ongoing new secretariat Annex complex located at Udo Udoma Avenue Uyo.
During an unscheduled inspection visit at the Project site, the governor expressed satisfaction at the pace and quality of work which has seen the conversion of what used to be, the abandoned 10th Anniversary Hotel into a modern Secretariat complex.
Governor Emmanuel who was visibly elated, singled out the Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Renewal, Prince Enobong Uwah and his counterpart in charge of Special Duties, Engr. Etido Inyang for commendation, maintaining that, they have performed excellently in ensuring that the project is executed according to specification and with world class finish.
According to the governor, the Commissioners have been up and doing in interpreting his vision for the state, thus making his job easier. Governor Emmanuel expressed confidence in his team and assured Akwa Ibom people that, by the end of his administration, he would leave an impeccable legacy for generations unborn to reckon with.
While also commanding the Press for projecting and informing the public about the activities of government and not allowing liars and propaganda by the opposition to prevail in misleading and misinforming the public, Governor Emmanuel took a swipe at cynics and charged them to go around the state and verify the many life changing and people oriented projects embarked upon by his administration.
He expressed hope that, when the ministries that are still operating from rented apartments finally relocate to the new complex, they will repay governments gesture with higher productivity and efficiency.
Governor Emmanuel equally expressed joy that, the abandoned structure which was taken over by criminals to perpetrate all manner of vices and used as a hide out by men of the underworld has been transformed to a beautiful edifice that will be another proud feat for the state.
In a chat with newsmen, Commissioner Uwah thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in him and the magnanimity in appointing him to serve in his cabinet as a commissioner.
While reiterating his total loyalty to the governor, Prince Uwah said, he remains committed and focused on his primary assignment which is to interpret the vision of the governor.
The Housing commissioner explained that, Governor Emmanuel is the right man to lead Akwa Ibom into the next phase of her development anchored on industrialization, wealth and job creation, economic empowerment and sustainable development. He therefore urged the good people of Akwa ibom to continue to support the administration and ignore the rants and distractions of those who are fighting to reverse te progress made so far in the state.
It will be recalled that, Governor Emmanuel in his determined effort to reposition the civil service and save cost ordered the renovation and rehabilitation of the abandoned 10th Anniversary Hotel and its conversion into a secretariat annex, with about four ministries and departments to relocate to the structure when completed. Earlier, the House Committee on Housing led by member representing Ini state constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Ekpenyong had inspected the project and gave kudos to commissioner Uwah and his Ministry for doing a wonderful job in implementing what he(Ekpenyong) described as the governors brilliant vision in curbing waste.
