Press Statement
My attention has been drawn to a recent statement credited to the National Leader of APC, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu asking for the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to be scrap out of the National Assembly. This call is not only laughable but an act of hypocrisy by the APC Leader trying to divert the attention of Nigerians from the real issue of governance which his party is still experimenting after 10 months in office.
For the benefit of uninformed Nigerians who quickly buy-in to anything dish out to them by politicians without asking questions, it is worthy to state here categorically that Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu has served at the same chamber as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. As at today, his wife, Distinguished Senator Oluremi Bola Tinubu is still serving her second term in office as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing the good people of Lagos Central Senatorial District at the same hallowed chamber.
It will be recall that when a National Conference was convened in this country by the immediate past administration which was the collective decisions of all ethnic nationalities in the country and the resolutions unanimously adopted by all region, it was the same Bola Ahmed Tinubu that called for his party to boycott the Conference even when all political parties in the country were fully and duly represented.
Since the APC government took over power in May 29, 2015, there has been strong calls from different quarters, eminent Nigerians and elder statesmen for the Buhari administration to implement the National Conference recommendations as the collective wishes of all interested parties in the Nigeria Project but the administration has turned it down. The same man who was the architect of the APC boycott has been the brain behind the administration decision to totally jettison the recommendations and throw it away not minding the billions of tax payer money that was invested in the Conference. How then can one man sit in the comfort of his room and made such inflammatory statement instigating the people against their elected representatives? Why the sudden call to crap the Senate by the APC leader?
Knowing where the call is coming from and the reason behind it, I therefore call on patriotic Nigerians to totally ignore it as it does not represent the collective opinions and interests of all citizens of our great country.
I made bold to state here that Nigeria has grown beyond where few individuals somewhere will sit down and detect for a population of over 180 million people. They should henceforth stop making inflammatory statements and stop taking Nigerians for a ride as such will be disastrous.

CALLS FOR SENATE SCRAPING, AN ACT OF HYPOCRISY

Knowing where the call is coming from and the reason behind it, I therefore call on patriotic Nigerians to totally ignore it as it does not represent the collective opinions and interests of all citizens of our great country.
It is worthy to note that the war against the Nigeria Senate as witnessed recently is not about the removal of Senate President, His Excellency, Dr. Bukola Saraki but the overwhelming influences of PDP Senators at the Red Chamber who has refused to allowed the Legislative Arm of Government to be teleguided and influenced from outside by the mafians and political warlords that has given them sleepless night hence the campaign of calumny, intimidation by state operatives, persistent media offensive and kangaroo court proceedings.
If for any reason outside parochial interest, the APC National Leader have just woken up and realized that sustaining both chambers of the National Assembly is a duplication of functions and an increase in the cost of governance in the country especially with the declining oil price at the international market hence the need to scrap one of them, I will rather advise him to convince the Buhari led administration to revisit the recommendations of the National Conference as a matter of urgency and ensure it full implementation for the overall interest of all Nigerians. Anything on the contrary, is a mere window-dressing trying to divert the attention of Nigerians from persistent fuel shortages and declining power supply which has negatively affected business activities in the country with the electorates at the receiving end.
I made bold to state here that Nigeria has grown beyond where few individuals somewhere will sit down and detect for a population of over 180 million people. They should henceforth stop making inflammatory statements and stop taking Nigerians for a ride as such will be disastrous.
