AKHA Committee on works blast contractor over delayed road

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Works Committee led by its Chairman, Hon. (Prince) Idongesit Ituen, Member, representing Itu State Constituency, yesterday blasted Resonan’s Nigeria Construction Company over what it described as total delay of road project awarded them by the State.
Hon. Ituen, who registered his displeasure on site of ongoing Nsit Atai road, noted that the road contract which was awarded to the indigenous Construction Company on February 2016 was Zero percent (0%) completed, despite that funds was released to them over six months ago.
“…The State Government had released funds to your Company over six months now but you haven’t executed any inch of the contract , the project is zero percent (0%) completed , you have only carried out site clearing , it is disappointing , why have you not executed your responsibility …” the Works Committee Chairman pursued .
According to onsite observation and detail of media team at the inspection, Resonan’s Nigeria Construction Company had performed only site clearing without any progress on Road work.
Responding to request of the inspection team, spokesperson for the Construction Company said delay of project was due to their spending of the initial deposit money on Compensation and also ,recent rainfall in the area . However, he didn’t specify the particular compensation. Hon. Idongesit ordered the construction company to produce documents detailing, said compensation and expenditure on the project within 30 days.
Speaking to our reporter, citizens of the Area emphasized that downpour of rains began precisely three months ago, also, contractors on other sites have executed large proportion of their projects despite rainfall, example is Eket – Ibeno road that was visited by the Hon. (Prince) Ituen led inspection team, two days ago.
Members who accompanied Chairman, Committee on Works and Transport, AKHA , Hon. (Prince) Idongesit Ituen were, Hon. Friday Iwok, member-Abak, Hon. Oto-Obong Akpan, member-Ukanafun, Hon. Emmanuel Bassey, member-Ini, Hon. Aniekan Bassey, member-Uruan, Hon. Otuekong Nse Essien, member-Onna State Constituencies.
