GOV. UDOM HARPS ON YOUTH TO SEEK GOD’S FACE ALWAYS

The Akwa Ibom State governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel urged Akwa Ibom youth to always seek the face of God in their daily activities. The governor made this assertion at the 12th edition of Akwa Ibom Youth Prays Conference held at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Oti Oro in Okobo Local Government Area of the state. The governor who was represented at the event by the Honourable Commissioner for Economic Planning and Development, Prof. Emmanuel Onwioduokit emphasized the need for young to always embrace God as the only solution to their myriad of problems. 

“I came here to felicitate with Akwa Ibom youth on this lofty initiative. Every intervention of God is always through the response of prayer. The future of Akwa Ibom Youth is secured because the governor is doing everything to ensure that the future is secured.” 

Prof Onwioduokit used the event to thank the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Matters, Comrade Aniefiok Iwaudofia for delivering on the mandate of the governor to take Akwa Ibom Youth to God in prayer. “I thank God for the leadership of the youth because he has responded to the mandate of His Excellency to take the youth of Akwa Ibom State to God.” The governor representative encouraged youth not to be dismay because tomorrow will be greater than today. “It is well with the youth as this government identify with the youth. In no future, we shall reap the benefits of the foundation of this government. This government is prepared to spread development.” He ended with word of direction for Akwa Ibom Youth as “Solid Akwa Ibom Youth” with the response “The Future is Secured” which was adopted by the State Coordinator of Akwa Ibom Youth Prays, Evang. Ubong Ituen as the Slogan of the Prayer Group.

Making his remarks, the Transition Committee Chairman of Okobo, Hon. Ubuo Effiong Ubuo expressed appreciation to Governor Udom Emmanuel for the opportunity to serve his people and thanked the youth of Akwa Ibom for honouring Okobo local government under his leadership just after two weeks of his swearing-in. He promised to partner with the Akwa Ibom Youth Prays Initiative and urged Okobo youth to embrace the program for their overall growth and well-being. 

 In her goodwill message, the Deputy Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Mrs) Felicia Bassey thanked the youth of Akwa Ibom State for finding Okobo worthy to host the 12th edition of the Conference and solicit government to give more youth in the state opportunity to serve as they have ideas and innovation to drive governance. She praised the youth for the peaceful conduct in the state and advised them to be law-abiding and respect constituted authority.”While other youth are in the creek, Akwa Ibom youth through your son is taking youth back to God. As you you put God first, God will direct your steps,’ she declared.

Earlier, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Matters, Comrade Aniefiok Iwaudofia thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for always being supportive of youth in the state especially the Akwa Ibom Youth Prayer Conference. He specifically thanked the governor for appointing more youth into leadership position in the state especially the newly constituted Transition Committee and pledged the youth unflinching loyalty to his administration. The SA sow a seed on behalf of the youth of Akwa Ibom State for progress and development.

The Presiding Priest of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Okobo, Rev. Malaki Akpan in his homily urged the people of Akwa Ibom State especially the youth to devour the word of God as it is profitable to the body and soul. He thanked the youth for their unreserved commitment to always seek God face in prayer and appeal to government to accommodate more youth in governance.

The event with the theme: WATCH and PRAY featured songs ministration by different choirs including Oti Oro Catholic Children Choir who sang to the admiration of all while the prayer session was led by Evang. Ubong Ituen who is the Coordinator of Akwa Ibom Youth Prays. It also witnessed the cutting of birthday cake by the Transition Committee Chairman of Okobo, Hon. Ubuo Effiong Ubuo whose 40th birthday coincidentally happened on the same date.

Dignitaries at the event include members of Akwa Ibom State House House of Assembly, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Projects & President of Essu Ulap Oro, Ulap Joseph Okon, SA on Brand Marketing, Mr. Ime Uwah, Supervisor for Women in Nsit Ibom LGA and President of Akwa Ibom Female Youth, Lady Edna Bassey, Youth Leaders, Okobo Chapter of Dakkada Ambassadors, Transition Committee Members, Party Leaders in Okobo, Pst political leaders, Women and Youth Groups.   

The Akwa Ibom Youth Prays (AKYP) is a monthly prayer conference coordinated by the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Matters with the mandate to return Akwa Ibom youth back to God in prayer.

The Akwa Ibom State Child Rights Law The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Godswill Akpabio, on 5th December, 2008 signed the child rights act into law to protect the growth of perceptual, emotional, intellectual, and behavioural capabilities and functioning during childhood of Akwa Ibom children under 16 years.
