The Women Empowerment and Skill Training (WEST) will take place in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State from tomorrow August 1 to August 14. Below are the list of Facilitators.
Empathetic, focused, charismatic, innovative, visionary and creative, these words describe Ubong Thompson King, Group Managing Director of Protection Plus Services Ltd (PPSL), a corporate security company with headquarters in Sangotedo, Lekki-Epe Expressway, and whose operations span 6 countries.
Ubong King is a passionate person, who is known in his industry as a follow through person. He is a graduate of the University of Calabar, in Cross River State. He majored in Agriculture, but found his niche very early in the Security industry. He has spent over 20years to date in the same industry starting from the lower rungs to the peak of his career. His reputation with people whom he has worked with, speaks positively of his personality, and passion for the industry.
He has served in different capacities in different organizations, from an entry level position of officer in a security organization, to Chief Security Officer of a Group of companies in the financial sector. He successfully turned around a security department in an organization, to a full fledged company, taking it from a position of loss, to over N20million monthly in profits within 3yrs. His concept and knowledge of the business, has made him a most sort after person to consult with, for foreign missions operating within this country, oil and gas/ shipping companies.
He is a member of the board of Trustees for the Nigerian Trinidad & Tobago Chamber of commerce, a member of the American Society for Industrial Security. Chinyere Anokwuru is an Empowerment Specialist, a poverty alleviation expert and a multi award winning advocate for the socio- economic empowerment of women.
She is a grassroots reformer and a transformational leader with over ten years experience working in the rural and urban communities to reduce poverty and create wealth with a major focus on women and vulnerable girls.
She is the founder of Selfworth Organization For Women Development, an NGO seeking to alleviate the lowest form of hunger and poverty through skills-acquisition, advocacy, capacity building, entrepreneurship advocacy, wealth creation, financial inclusion and micro-finance.
Until may 29th 2015 Chinyere held the position of the Senior
Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos state on women mobilization and Empowerment.
Chinyere overcame significant odds and a difficult situation to become an exceptional example of what an oppressed woman can achieve through the unfailing grace of God and sheer determination.
She understands that many women and girls experience the same hardships that she faced for three reasons: lack of funds, lack of education or skill and social customs. Following her belief that education and the economic empowerment of women is key in nation building and in maintaining home balance, she birthed Selfworth Organization For Women Development and MultiDreams international as platforms for the continous education and empowerment of women.
She has had significant success in developing a Micro lending scheme that empowers women to break cycles of poverty and become financially independent.
She is also the author of the best selling book "Who Says You Can't".

In March 2016, Matthew relocated to Nigeria to found the Youth Entrepreneurship Summitand Expo Nigeria

AKWA IBOM CHILD RIGHTS LAW

The Akwa Ibom State Child Rights Law The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Godswill Akpabio, on 5th December, 2008 signed the child rights act into law to protect the growth of perceptual, emotional, intellectual, and behavioural capabilities and functioning during childhood of Akwa Ibom children under 16 years. The law protects the Akwa Ibom child from birth to adolescence and up to 16 years such that the child is afforded the necessary protection and assistance so that it can fully assume its responsibilities within the community. Child development becomes notable from the emergence of speech at one to two years of age. 2 to 7 years is early childhood where the child uses symbolic thought and language to manipulate their environment. 7 to 12 is late childhood and marks the beginnings of logic, involving the classification of ideas and an understanding of time and number. 12 up forms development of empathy, the ability to appreciate the feelings and perspectives of others.
