AKWA IBOM YOUTH PRAYS MARKS IST ANNIVERSARY

The monthly prayer conference otherwise known as Akwa Ibom Youth Prays today marked its 1st Year Anniversary at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Queen Street, Ikot Ekpene Parish with the theme: IT IS THE LORDS DOING. 

Declaring the event open, the State Coordinator of Akwa Ibom Youth Prays, Pastor Ubong Ituen thanked the governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel for giving full support to the prayer meeting and ensure that it succeed. Pastor Ituen took to memory lane how some pastors under the aegis of Udom Intercessors Network gathered themselves to be praying monthly for Udom Emmanuel during his gubernatorial election, and since then the initiative was adopted by the governor through the Office of his Special Assistant on Youth Matters. He stated that through the prayer meeting, the Lord has blessed the youth of Akwa Ibom State as more than 15 were appointed recently as Transition Committee members in their respective local government areas.

In his speech, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Matters, Comrade Aniefiok Iwaudofia thanked the governor for taking the youth of Akwa Ibom State to God through prayermeeting, that it has not been easy as a youth leader but thanked the governor for always giving him the necessary support in piloting the affairs of youth in the state. "It takes the grace of God for a young man to lead the youth. It is because of this reason that we decided to thank God for the grace to sustained us despite the enormous challenges and we are convinced that God will continue to take us to our destination," he stated.




The SA to the Governor on Youth Matters reiterated that Akwa Ibom youth will continue to seek the face of God for the peace of the state and for the governor to deliver on his electoral mandate, and therefore called for more commitment on the part of youth as there are much in the offing for youth by the present administration.

"It is an error for youth to go to school and come back to die and leave their parent. It is an error for the youth to battle in life and not succeeding. It is an error for youth to plant seed and they do not survive to reap the benefit of their sweat. It is an error for youth not to recognize God as the creator. I hereby sow this seed on behalf of the youth of Akwa Ibom State to succeed and progress in whatever they lay their hands to do."

Comrade Iwaudofia used the occasion to commend the governor for his numerous training for youth including empowerment programmes, appointment and support for youth in the state and therefore pledged the youth unflinching support to his administration.

Responding, the governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel who was duly represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties, Engr Etido Inyang thanked the youth for their commitment in praying for the peace of the state, stating that this is unprecedented.

"I am completely overwhelmed that you all gathered here to worship God in my parish. This is unprecedented as no state is doing what you people are doing here. The whole world depend on youth. The youth is a very important arm of any nation.

"Since the inception of youth prayer summit, some youth have made a lot of difference. Akwa Ibom State is a state that everybody want to visit. The governor is very pleased with the youth of the state as all his agenda have youth in mind. The prayer is working and I encourage you to continue with it."

Highpoint of the event was prayer session for the youth, Ikot Ekpene local government area and the governor to succeed while the Spectacular Choir ministered in songs. The event also witnessed the cutting of Anniversary cake and presentation of Certificate of Honour to some deserving personalities in the state who has been supporting the event financially to include His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel; Honourable Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ephraim Inyang-eyen; Hon. Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Akan Okon; Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Princess Felicia Bassey; Hon. Commissioner for Special Duties, Engr. Etido Inyang; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Technical Matters and Due Process, Elder Ufot Ebong; and Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Nathan Ekaette.

Others are Special Assistant on Brand Management, Ime Uwa; SA on Inter-Ministerial Labour, Sampson Idiong; Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Rt. Hon. Anietie Etuk; Hon. Commissioner on Youth Development, Elder Monday Uko; Special Assistant on Project, Joe Ikpak and SA on Youth Matters, Comrade Aniefiok Iwaudofia.

In their separate responses after presentation of Certificate of Honour, Rt. Hon. Felicia declared her continuous support to Akwa Ibom Youth Prays. "Akwa Ibom will be shopping ground for intellectuals. I have made up my mind to support the youth," she stated. Mr Akan Okon said, "I thank God for my life today because I am a youth. Anybody that partner with God will succeed in everything he does. Since the youth has decided to partner with God, He will back us all against our enemies."

Elder Ufot Ebong also advised the youth to make God their shepherd. "Start a new beginning to make God your shepherd as every shepherd must have a sheep to watch over," he submitted.

The event was attended by Chairman Transition Committee of Ikot Ekpene, Hon. David Umana and members of his Committee, former member representing Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Nsikak Ekong, Transition Committee Chairman of Okobo, Hon. Ubuo E. Ubuo, Youth Council Chairman for Ikot Ekpene, Hon. Favour Otong, President Akwa Ibom State Female Youth, Lady Edna Bassey, Dakkada Ambassadors, party leaders, youth groups, women and the royal fathers.

Akwa Ibom Youth Prays is a prayer initiative coordinated by the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Matters. The monthly prayer meeting started on August 2015 at Assemblies of God, 1 Udokang Lane, Uyo with the theme: THE PRESERVING GRACE, followed by the second edition at Holy Ghost Ambassadors, Ekpanya Street, Uyo with the theme: STAND UP AND STAND OUT. The third edition was hosted by Qua Iboe Church, 112 Ikot Ekpene Road, Uyo with the them: THE LORD STRONG AND MIGHTY and the fourth edition took place at The Hill International, Aka Itiam Street, Uyo with the theme: THE MYSTERY OF DIVINE MANDATE.

The fifth edition was moved to Catholic Church, St Paul Parish at West Itam, Itu LGA with the theme: HOW GREAT THOU ART and the sixth edition with the theme: THE MYSTERY OF DIVINE HELP was held at The Eagle Assembly, Osongama Road, Uyo. The seventh edition took place at The Apostolic Church, Awa Iman in Onna LGA with the theme: BELIEVE FOR GREATER THINGS and on March 2016, the eight edition was held at Wondrous Church of Jesus Christ in Nigeria, Ata Obio Akpa in Oruk Anam LGA with the theme: declare what you see.

The April 2016 which is the ninth in the series was held at The Apostolic Church, Ikot Okoro Road in Abak LGA with the theme: LORD BLESS THE WORKS OF MY HANDS, followed by the tenth edition at The Salvation Army, Obotim Nsit in Nsit Ibom LGA with the theme: GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS. The eleventh edition of the monthly prayer meeting was held at The Apostolic Church, Ikot Etebo Assembly in Nsit Ubium LGA with the theme: POWER TO BECOME while the twelve edition took place at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Oti-Oro in Okobo LGA. It has been the grace all through and His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel has been very supportive and attended all by himself or through his representative.

The significance of this monthly prayers is enormous as more youth in the state are taken back to God in prayers which has help to reduced crime rate drastically. Another major significance of this event was witnessed at the historic and instantaneous divine intervention in the verdict of Akwa Ibom State Governorship Election Petition which was finally laid to rest by the Supreme Court affirming the mandate willingly given to His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel by the people of Akwa Ibom State. Also, more youth in the state has been appointed into political offices in the state through the intervention of the prayer conference.

The Akwa Ibom State Child Rights Law The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Godswill Akpabio, on 5th December, 2008 signed the child rights act into law to protect the growth of perceptual, emotional, intellectual, and behavioural capabilities and functioning during childhood of Akwa Ibom children under 16 years.
