WORD OF GRACE HOSTS 2016 AFRICAN PRAISE SUNDAY

The 2016 Edition of African Praise Sunday at Word of Grace Bible Church has come and gone but the memories will linger for long. The annual traditional praise event took place yesterday at the Church Auditorium, Afaha Uqua Obokidim in Eket local government area of Akwa Ibom State. Leading on the stage was an in-house gospel artiste and a member of the church, Itty Benasko who saturated the auditorium with avalanche of praise with the "Jehovah Mudim" hit track.

A guest artiste, Dele Maka changed the atmosphere with different Ibibio songs like "Kpukpru se Abasi anamde ono mi, enyene nyo" and spiced it with Yoruba, Igbo and English tunes. Dele who is a frequent artiste at the event since inception narrated how Word of Grace Bible Church was the first church that gave him the pulpit to exposed his talent after serving as a youth corper in 2013. Dele testified how Pastor George Umanah spoke concerning him and that same week someone called him to come and picked a car and on Saturday the same week, he was again given a package. Though earlier a Muslim, Dele conversion from Islam to Christianity has afforded him the opportunity to praise God like never before. He stay in Uyo and got married to Emem and since then, their lives has changed for good.

The MOP were not left out as they electrified the auditorium with their hit song "Abasi Ibom ada Ukara". Also ministering in songs and praises were the Garment of Praise, Teen Choir and Classical Choir. One unique feature of the event is the reading of Bible in different languages like Igbo, Efik, Ekid, Igala, Pidgin, Hausa, Yoruba, etc signifying that there is no discrimination with God.

In his homily, the Senior Pastor of the Church, Pastor George Umanah emphasized the need for Christian to always offer praises to God for the good things He has done in our life. "It is our way to share great honour to God for the great things He has done.That we have food to eat is a great honour. That we have cloth to wear is a great honour. That we have everything pertaining to life is a great honour," he stressed.

The man of God stated that there is an alter which is a place for interaction between man and God, a place of intermingling relationship and sacrifice to access our creator. He said that the event is not a fashion parade where people come to showcase their fashion prowess but an avenue to honour God in songs and praises. The event was attended by many including children, women, youth and men. Invited guests were also in attendance.

African Praise Sunday is an annual event at Word of Grace Bible Church were Christian gather to offer praises to God in the traditional way. They come in the traditional dresses and sing to exalt the name of God alone. It is an event to honour God for His mercy and grace toward us.
