WORD OF GRACE HOLDS BUSINESS SEMINAR

A Pentecostal church in the city of Eket, Word of Grace Bible Church has called on it members and the public not to rely on one source of income as such may not be sustainable especially with the decline in oil revenue at the international market. The church made the call during a one day business seminar organized by men fellowship in the church.

Speaking on the topic: Generating & Financing Multiple Business Ideas, the Chief Executive Officer and Group Managing Director of Madelyn Group, Barr. Ben Udowa said that experience is one of the foundation in generating and financing multiple business ideas. Barr Udowa narrated how he started Madelyn Group after working in the banking industry for 27 years where he gathered all the experience which has helped him in running his businesses.

He stated that though paid employment is good but it is limited but being an entrepreneur can help deal with our numerous financial needs. He added that wealth is created through business and appealed that participants should change their idea of rating their business as small, emphasizing that every big brand globally also started small. 

“Change your idea about small business. Be futuristic”, he admonished.

Barr Ben quoting from Zachariah 4:10 said that he used the word of God to do his business. He therefore highlighted the characteristics of an entrepreneur to include being creative, taking calculated risk, resilience, self-confident, independent in taking decisions, among others. He submitted that for one to generate multiple business ideas, one must be able to solve his own problems and the problems of others.
In his presentation, the CEO of Macpee Nigeria Ltd, Dr. Abraham Umoh said that every business require a customer because the money that a business man want is in the hands of a customer. He added that those who want to venture into business must first have vision about the business and set goals as goals measure growth.
Dr. Umoh also said that for one to run a successful business, one must render quality services, be able to reach the customer, know the cost of running the business, and identify people that he needed to work with among other activities.
Speaking earlier, the Senior Pastor of the Church, Pastor George Umana stated that the grace of God is the divine enablement that helps people to do exploits, noting that any business that do not have the covering of grace will experience disgrace. Pastor Umana advocated for children of God to seek the grace of God before embarking on any business venture as the grace of God is designed to empower, uplift and advance us.
According to him, “The grace of God can make people to do things for you that you are not qualify for.” He drew example from Joseph who became a Prime Minister in Egypt as a product of grace, but advised that the grace of God is not automatic. He highlighted things that Christian must do to activate the grace of God to include prayer, word of God, mentors and to become kingdom addicted.
