INCASE THERE IS A RE-RUN

By Ubong David I took time to read at least 70% of the write-ups and reports of Akwa Ibom Election Tribunal sitting at Abuja. Though the position canvassed or agitated by both camp are in order but one thing that APC camp has failed to admit is that Akwa Ibom State is a stronghold of PDP and there is no reason whatsoever for them to upturn the mandate of Akwa Ibom people to their favour. Presently, the state has produced 3 Senators, 10 House of Representatives members, 25 out of 26 members of the State House of Assembly, 31 Transition Committee Chairmen, members of the Transition Committee numbering about 300, etc all from the PDP. How do you win a re-run in such a state? In case there is a re-run which may not be possible with the quality of evidence presented at the tribunal that there was election in Akwa Ibom State which some of the PW admitted during their testimonies and cross-examination, my brothers and sisters from APC in the state has forgotten that a

SPEECH DELIVERED BY AHMED ADAMU, PRESIDENT, COMMONWEALTH YOUTH COUNCIL DURING THE 55TH NIGERIAN INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NOTTINGHAM, UK ON OCTOBER 2, 2015. Nigeria is home to a quarter of the African population. After being colonised for over 60 years, the country gained independence 55 years ago. Young Nigerians of different generations have contributed to every remarkable milestone the country has achieved. The young people of 1960s fought hard to secure independent Nigeria. For instance, young people laid down their lives to preserve the oneness and unity of Nigeria during the civil war. The young people were brave enough to endure the military rulers and struggled for a true democratic nation. The young people are the propellers of the Nigerian economy, which is the largest in the continent. Young people were instrumental to the success of the recent historic democratic change of gaurd where for the first time in the history of Nigeria, a demo

MINISTERIAL APPOINTMENT: WHY BUHARI OPTED FOR GOVERNOR UDOM'S NOMINEE

Tayo Adebayo Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma Stunning revelations have trailed the recent nomination of Senator Udoma Udo Udoma as minister of the Federal Republic by President Muhammadu Buhari. A close source at the Presidency reveals that it was the recommendation of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel that secured a ministerial slot for the oil rich state currently controlled by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party. The source disclosed that previous names submitted by the All Progressive Congress caucus in the state did not meet the high standards set by the president who was keen on appointing a very credible minister from the state. The initial names sent to the presidency included the APC govrrnorship candidate Mr Umana Umana, the state chairman of the party Dr Amadu Attai, Umana's campaign manager Mr Sunny Udom, Chief Don Etiebiet and a former deputy governor Mr Nsima Ekere. The president apparently rejected Mr Umana's name since he was a g
