Compatriots, after a long and arduous political campaign, the good people of a state conceived by our forebears to be driven by unity, brotherhood and Godliness have come spoken and they have spoken clearly. Let us put it on record that we in APC came into the elections with full intentions to convince and win the hearts of Akwa Ibom people and to emerge victorious. That was why we engaged in several electioneering campaigns across all the local government areas of the State. In their response, the people have not spoken the way we wanted, but they have spoken all the same and we believe in the popular Roman aphorism, “Vox populi, vox Dei” (the voice of the people, is the voice of God). We wish to use this medium to cong

16th April, 2015 Press Release ZENOPHOBIA IN SOUTH AFRICA: NIGERIANS TAKEN FOR GRANTED  Our attention has been drawn to recent attack by South African on foreigners killing a score of them on the ground that they are responsible for the high unemployment rate of 24% in their country. As at yesterday by 10.00am, it was reported that a group of South African students killed 5 Congolese, 10 Nigerians, 5 Gabonese and 10 Somalis in Johannesburg. This action is very unfortunate, barbaric and absurd and therefore should be condemn in its entirety. South African are very ungrateful human beings for embarking on killing innocent citizens of other countries especially Nigerians which they hate with passion for no just cause. South African government has been antagonizing Nigeria for a long time now especially on issue of permanent membership of the United Nations. They forget so soon the sacrifices that Nigeria made in rescue their country and return it to democracy during

Why Buhari May Not Fulfill Campaign Promises – Aljazeera

Muhammadu Buhari won an upset victory over Nigeria president Goodluck Jonathan this week using a catchphrase that’s familiar to anyone who’s paid attention to American politics over the past eight years: “change.” Buhari leveraged the same slogan used to much success by Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign to unseat Jonathan and his ruling People’s Democratic Party, which has had its candidates occupy the presidency since Nigeria returned to democracy in 1999. The change Buhari promised was an end to the Boko Haram insurgency that has killed thousands of Nigerians and forced over a million to flee. He campaigned on a reputation as an anti-corruption crusader, and made populist pledges such as stipends for poor people and health care for all. Jonathan campaigned on the motto of continuity for his “Transformation Agenda,” saying the growth Nigeria enjoyed during his first elected term — during which the country recalculated its GDP to become the largest economy in Africa — would co

No Victor, No Vanquished - Jonathan, Buhari, Nigerians and the #GoodCitizen - Bekeme Masade

Dear Reader, Tuesday, 31 January, 2015, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria reportedly invited General Muhammadu Buhari to the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock in Abuja, to congratulate him on his victory over Jonathan in the just concluded and much anticipated presidential elections. For the first time in recent history of the country, the nation had 'been allowed' to vote with our hearts - thanks to President Jonathan and Prof Attahiru Jega, INEC Chairman and unsung hero - and the voting process had no 'systemic' rigging as well as had strong indications of citizen monitoring. My humble self and many other ordinary Nigerians, some without permanent voter's cards (PVCs) turned up at nearby voting centers and assisted INEC officials to ensure a smooth process. This is not to say that the electoral process was free of hitches. I personally faced tremendous challenges while trying to collect my PVC and I trekked a few

TWO BROTHERS DR. IME UMANAH AND GOV. GODSWILL AKPABIO THREAD WORDS

DR. IME UMANAH CHIEF GODSWILL AKPABIO, CON BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE: AN OPEN LETTER TO CHIEF SIR (DR.) GODSWILL OBOT AKPABIO, CON By Dr. Ime Umanah Your Excellency, one of the cherished liberties which I enjoy as an elder statesman in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria under our democratic dispensation, is the liberty to say the truth and nothing but the truth and say my mind no matter whose ox is gored. History will be kind to me that I have never relented in doing this as regards your eight years of terror and deceit in Akwa Ibom State. In the course of your years of mismanagement of Akwa Ibom State which some of us worked hard to get created, I had written you several open letters. In some of them I called for a change of style in your mismanagement of the resources of our State. So, for you it has been a war against Akwa Ibom people. I will dwell on this but before then, let me first review the recent changes in Nigeria and your singular acts that made
