AKWA IBOM PEOPLE CELEBRATES UDOM'S VICTORY

Yesterday, over 50,000 people trouped into the street of Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State in celebration of the victory of the governor-elect, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel. The celebration which was tagged "VICTORY MARCH" witnessed the largest turn-out to such an in event in recent time in the country. The march was led by Senator-elect in Uyo Senatorial District, Mr. Bassey Albert Akpan aka OBA, Pastor Ibanga Etang who is the Chairman of Esit Eket Local Government Area, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communications, Engr. Etido Inyang, Special Adviser to the Governor of Technical Matters, Prince Enobong Uwah, Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties and other distinguished sons and daughters of Akwa Ibom State.





The march was joined by His Excellency, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, Governor-Elect, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, Wife of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, women groups, Akwa Ibom Consolidation Alliance ACA, Transformation Initiative, many youth groups and women organizations who were in support of the election of Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel.






The Victory March also featured Akwa Ibom entertainers among whom were Ice Kid Banton, Moses Eskor, Pasto Goody Goody, Godfada, Don Tom, Solototo, etc. Addressing the participants at Wellington Bassey Way, Chief Akpabio thanked Akwa Ibom people for their solidarity with the victory of Mr. Udom Emmanuel as the brand new governor to occupy Hilltop Mansion. He commend them for not allowing people to deceive them to decamp to APC because Akwa Ibom State is known to be a PDP State and they proved it by voting the party to victory during the presidential and National Assembly election and repeat same at the gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections respectively. Chief Akpabio used the occasion to commend the people of the state especially the youth not to allow themselves to be used by few elders who do not know between their left and right and urged them to give their support to Udom Emmanuel to bring about industrialization in the state.

In his speech, Mr. Udom Emmanuel thanked the people for the overwhelming support they gave him and promised that he will justify the confidence that the people of Akwa Ibom people has reposed on him. He pledged to run an all-inclusive administration and call on all sons and daughters of the state especially those who has lost out in the election to come together so as to build a better Akwa Ibom State. He commended the out-going governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio for laying a solid foundation for industrialization and promised to consolidate on his achievement. He reiterated his commitment to his manifesto of making Akwa Ibom State an investment haven in the Gulf of Guinea with the development of Ibaka Deep Sea Projects and other capital projects to be executed in the state.

Tha State Chairman of PDP in his speech also thank the people for standing by the truth to ensure that equity and justice is done to the people of Eket Senatorial District.

AKWA IBOM CHILD RIGHTS LAW

The Akwa Ibom State Child Rights Law The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Godswill Akpabio, on 5th December, 2008 signed the child rights act into law to protect the growth of perceptual, emotional, intellectual, and behavioural capabilities and functioning during childhood of Akwa Ibom children under 16 years.
