HOST COMMUNITY YOUTH MEETS IBENO TRANSITION CHAIRMAN

By Admin Youth of Eket Federal Constituency under the banner of Host Community Youth Movement today meet with the Transition Chairman of Ibeno Local Government Area, High Chief William Mkpa at the Council Secretariat. The youth numbering over 100 visit the Transition Chairman as part of their wide consultation with key stakeholders of the four LGAs of Ibeno, Eket, Esit Eket and Onna on their demand from ExxonMobil and government to develop the area. In his presentation, the Speaker of the group, Comrade Samuel Udoh intimated the Chairman on the numerous challenges confronting the area due to oil exploitation by ExxonMobil and other oil companies. Comrade Udoh listed some of the challenges to include lack of infrastructural facilities like roads, electricity, water, health care system, non employment of indigenes in the company, non implementation of MOU and Local Content Policy of Federal Government, non inclusion of local contractors in viable project execution, etc.

WORKS COMMISSIONER VISITS ODIO COMMUNITY

Smiles came to the faces of Odio people today as the Hon. Commissioner for Works in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Ephraim Inyang visit the area. The Commissioner visit was a fulfillment of the promise he made with the people of Odio during the electioneering campaign. In his welcome speech, the former Head of Service and Chairman, Civil Service Commission, Elder Sunny I. Akpadiaha thanked the Honourable Commissioner and his entourage for finding time to visit Odio people despite their busy schedule. Elder Akpadiaha called the visit historic as no government officials has ever visited the community except during the period that they canvass for votes, stating that the people of Odio voted massively for Udom Emmanuel and will continue to support him to succeed as the governor of Akwa Ibom State.
