RESOLUTION OF EKET SENATORIAL DISTRICT YOUTH PARLIAMENT ON YOUR 100 DAYS IN OFFICE AS GOVERNOR OF AKWA IBOM STATE
At its inaugural sitting on Thursday 17th September, 2015, the Eket Senatorial District Youth Parliament, a youth voice in Eket Senatorial District deliberated extensively on your 100 days in office as the governor of Akwa Ibom State and noted that you have justify the mandate unanimously given to you by the good people of Akwa Ibom State.
The House observed that:
WHEREAS, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel has exercised his duties creditably as Governor with great vision, dedication and competence and therefore deserves commendation;
WHEREAS, the Governor has embarked on many life-touching projects and laudable programs in the state to include reviving of ailing industries like Peacock Paint in Etinan, ground-breaking ceremonies of new industries and flagging-off of some road projects across the entire state;
WHEREAS, the Governor is strongly committed to youth development programmes with the training of 1000 Akwa Ibom youth at Oracle and 100 on agriculture in Israel. The Governor has also played host to Ufot Ekong, an Akwa Ibom youth that solved a 30 year old mathematical problem at Tokai University in Japan and awarded him scholarship to show his averred commitment to education and human capacity development of Akwa Ibom youth;
WHEREAS, within the 100 days in office, the APC led central government has invaded Akwa Ibom State Government House through the use of DSS with a false pretense that there were stockpile of arms and ammunitions but failed to publish their findings after three weeks of that invasion of the seat of a democratically elected government;
WHEREAS, the House view the action of DSS as a threat to our nascent democracy and an affront to the people of Akwa Ibom State who willingly gave their mandate to His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel at the gubernatorial election of April 11 base on his competence, capability and optimum capacity to lead Akwa Ibom State to an enviable height and bring development to the people;
WHEREAS, the APC leadership are hard-bent to take grip of PDP controlled states of Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Delta, Abia, Taraba, etc through the back-door and turn the country into a one party system. It is worthy to note that this plot will fail woefully as the party lack structures in those PDP states and cannot win them at the Election Tribunal through the use of DSS to harass, hound and intimidate INEC Resident Commissioners and officials;
WHEREAS, this Honourable House are satisfied with the quality of witnesses at the Election Tribunal sitting in Abuja and is optimistic that PDP will emerge victorious based on the testimonies of witnesses to further confirmed that election was held in Akwa Ibom State on April 11, 2015;
WHEREAS, the Governor has continued to promote unity and harmony among the different ethnic groups in the state with the spread of appointment and development projects that is widely appreciated by all sections of the state.
Now therefore, be it resolved and it is hereby resolved that this Honourable House hereby convey our warm appreciation to His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel for his visionary leadership, integrity, forthrightness, dedication to duty and unimpeachable commitment to the welfare and betterment of Akwa Ibom people through his people-oriented leadership in the state.
That based on the achievements recorded so far by His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel within his 100 days in office, the House therefore unanimously pass a VOTE OF CONFIDENCE on the governor and urge him to continue to deliver good and impactful governance to the good people of Akwa Ibom State without fear or favour.
Be it further resolved that this Honourable House will resist any attempt by individuals or groups or any government agency or paid media outfits to harass, intimidate, humiliate or embarrass the person of His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel by whatever guises. That Eket Senatorial District and indeed the entire Akwa Ibom people are solidly behind His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel and appreciate his policy direction to steer the state to an enviable height especially in the area of industrialization.
This House therefore urges Akwa Ibom people to shun ethnic division, preach unity and embrace peace for development to thrive. The House hereby pleads with Akwa Ibom people to sheath their sword and support the administration of His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel.
This Honourable House directs that this Resolution be given the widest publicity in view of the contents contained herein and for the benefit of letting the whole world to know that the good people of Eket Senatorial District and indeed Akwa Ibom State appreciate the policies and programs of His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel and pledge their unflinching support to his administration.
