* Reiterated their Commitment to Pursue their Rights to a Logical Conclusion
The youth group in Eket Federal Constituency has met with the leadership of Core Community Leaders Forum to share their thought on their demand from ExxonMobil, State and Federal Government with regard to the decay of infrastructures in the four local government area of Eket, Ibeno, Onna and Esit Eket. The youth group under the auspices of Host Community Youth Movement decried the total neglect of the four LGAs by ExxonMobil and other oil servicing companies operating in the area while the people suffered the consequences of the oil activities. They emphasized the need for the leaders of the area to give them the necessary support to ensure that what belongs to the people of the area are given to them without further delay as anything on the contrary will not be condoned.
The youth numbering over 100 met with the Leaders Forum at the palace of their Chairman, Chief Isaac Abakam who expressed their solidarity with the group and promised to support them in their advocacy. Chief Abakam stated that the youth of the area are not making any mistake in demanding for what belong to the people and pledged their support to the group, but advised that they should continue to use dialogue to press forward their demand as no responsible organization or government will fail to listen to their genuine demand.
Those in attendance at the parley were the Chairman of the Forum, Chief Isaac Abakam, the Secretary, Rt. Hon. Pat Ifon, Engr. Christopher Udongo, Obong Samuel Atang, Chief Ette Udo, Lordmike, Enosco and others while the youth group was led by the Central Chairman, Comrade Stanley Udoaka, Comrade Emman Ekwere, Comrade Iniobong Ibok, Comrade Inyang Atabop, the Speaker, Comrade Samuel Udoh and Comrade Ubong Assam.
