WIFE OF COUNCIL BOSS FLAG-OFF SECOND BATCH OF TRAINING FOR EKET WOMEN

The wife of Transition Committee Chairman of Eket and WALGON President, Mrs Bright Archibong today flag-off the second batch of training for the women of Eket local government area at the Council Secretariat.

Declaring the second batch of the training open, Mrs Archibong said that the Chairman of Eket, Hon. Frank Archibong meant well for the women and want them to be self-reliant not to depend on people but to financially independent. She commended the Chairman for embarking on such human capacity development training, stating that at the end of the training exercise, the women of Eket will be distinguished from their counterparts from other local government area.

Mrs Archibong urged the women to take the training serious as it will help them to cater for themselves and families if maximally put to use. The WALGON President used the occasion to call on other women across the eleven (11) wards of the local government area to take advantage of the magnanimity of Transition Committee Chairman as he does not want women to be given fishes but to learn how to fish. "When you build the women, you build the nation," she stated. The wife of the Transition Committee Chairman said that she is proud of Eket women and commended the first batch of the trainees for their exceptional performance.

The facilitator of the Make Up/Gele Batch of the Training, Mrs Edidiong Umana thanked the Transition Committee Chairman of Eket, Hon. Frank Archibong for having a good plan for the women by engaging them in building their capacity. She pleaded with the trainees to be serious during the course of their training.

In a brief interview, the Supervisor for Health in Eket Transition Committee, Mrs Mabel Ikoiwak said that the Transition Committee Chairman, Hon. Frank Archibong is a man with good heart and must be given opportunity to help develop Eket local government and the women. She stated that the Chairman is a man of compassion who cares much about the welfare of his people, hence he resolved to embarked on training Eket women in different skills so that they will be independent and employer of labour.

She said that the training programme is in line with the "Dakkada" philosophy of governor Udom Emmanuel that Akwa Ibom people should rise to their faith of greatness, and urged the women of Eket to take advantage of the exercise especially at this season of recession as it will help them to make money for themselves.

The Class Rep and one of the recipients of Bead training, Queen Francis Joshua from Odio expressed appreciation to the Transition Committee Chairman of Eket, Hon. Frank Archibong and wife for the love they have for the women by giving them opportunities to learn different skills free of charge, saying that the Chairman is a man with a heart of gold. She urged the students of different batches to be respectful and pay attention to the facilitators so as to learn skills that will help them in future.
The training is broken into four batches: Beads, Make Up/Gele, Cake making and it is free of charge. The training exercise will last for one month.
